My first pattern: Party Line Scarf!
Hello everyone, and welcome to my little corner of the Internet where I share my love for all things fiber arts and life on our cozy farm. Whether you’re a fellow knitter, a sewing enthusiast, or just someone who enjoys a peek into a crafty lifestyle, I’m glad you stopped by.
My name is Kaci, and this blog is where I spill all about my adventures in knitting, my explorations in sewing, and the daily joys of living on a small farm in Arkansas with my family. From beekeeping to gardening, life here is never dull. We cherish our time outdoors, surrounded by the beauty of the Ozarks.
The Joys of Completing Knitting Projects
My most exciting finished object to share this week is a new pattern that is now live on Ravelry! – The Party Line scarf, inspired by the nostalgic party line phone systems, features double lines of eyelet rows, and squishy garter adding a vintage touch.
I designed it using a sport weight yarn that is both luxurious and practical, perfect for lighter wear. The pattern is straightforward and quick to knit, making it an ideal palette cleanser between larger projects.
I used Craft me knot yarn co. Silky Sport Base, and Sarah is going to have some lovely tonals available for preorder today!
Now thru end of day Sunday 5/5/24 you can use the code below to get 40% off the pattern:

Knitting has always held a special place in my heart. The feeling of binding off a project is like no other. Most recently, I also completed the Pohjola pullover, co-hosting a knit-along for this pattern. It was a challenging project that truly honed my skills in colorwork and gauge matching. The yarn, a beautiful BFL masham blend, was perfect for the pattern. The pullover turned out beautifully, with vibrant colorwork that makes it one of my favorite pieces.
Sewing Adventures and Seasonal Inspirations
Sewing is another passion of mine, although I admit it’s a seasonal affair. With spring in full swing, I’ve been motivated to create several pairs of linen pants and have plans for more breezy garments as the warmer months approach. The transition seasons always reignite my sewing enthusiasm, and I try to make the most of this burst of creative energy.
Life Between the Stitches
When I’m not knitting or sewing, I’m usually found tending to our farm or spending quality time with my family. These moments are precious and serve as a reminder of the simple joys life has to offer. Whether it’s watching the garden bloom or listening to the chickens cluck away, there’s a rhythm to farm life that soothes the soul.

Cooking
It’s strawberry season and I can’t wait to share some of my favorite strawberry desert recipes! But this week I had to whip up some of my favorite gluten free banana bread.
I use an old southern recipe that was handed down from the quilting ladies I used to go visit with my Nanny, an avid quilter herself. (The secret for moist gluten free banana bread – a cup of apple sauce) A little warning tho this is more like banana cake it’s so sweet ha!
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour (I use 1 to 1 gluten free flour)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 sticks butter, softened
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 cup mashed ripe bananas
(I add 1 cup applesauce)
Preheat oven to 350° and grease and flour 2 loaf pans. Combine dry ingredients in a bowl. In another bowl cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Add flour mixture and buttermilk, alternating while mixing well. Beat batter for two to theee minutes. Stir in bananas nuts and vanilla. Spoon into loaf pans and bake for about 50 mins or until done.
