Tate Romper Sewing Pattern and Cute Knitted Hat
Hello, friends! Welcome back to YoungFolk Knits. I’m Kaci, and if you’re new here, this is where I share my passion for all things handmade. Whether it’s knitting, sewing, spinning, or life on our small farm in Arkansas, there’s always something creative happening here. If you love gardens, beekeeping, and spending time outdoors, you’re in the right place.
Today, I’m excited to share some finished projects, including a Tate Romper Sewing Pattern, my current works in progress, and my crafting plans for the upcoming months. Let’s dive in!
Finished Knitting Project: The Traveler Hat
First up, I recently finished test knitting the DRK Traveler Hat by Andrea Mowry. This hat is part of her Traveler series, which includes a hoodie, shawl, cowl, and now, a hat. It’s available in both worsted and fingering weights and comes in sizes from toddler to large adult.
I used Farmer’s Daughter Fibers Pishkun DK yarn, which, despite being classified as DK, works up to a perfect worsted weight gauge for me. The hat features alternating knit and purl rows, giving it a lovely texture that grows when blocked. I prefer wearing it snug to the crown, but it’s versatile enough for different fits.
Sewing Project: Tate Romper
Now, let’s talk sewing! I recently finished a Tate Romper sewing pattern using Merchant and Mills’ Balmoral linen in a highlighter yellow color. This romper has a lot of fabric, making it super comfortable. I chose the size based on my bust measurement and made a few modifications to fit my body better, like increasing the bodice length.
One of my favorite features is the invisible zipper, which wasn’t as hard to install as I thought. I plan to make another one, this time with adjustable straps for more flexibility.
Current Works in Progress
Life has been hectic lately, with a lot of emotional ups and downs. We just returned from a family vacation to the beach, which was a nice break. However, we also faced some tough times, including the recent passing of my uncle. Despite the sadness, I’m trying to stay positive and focus on my knitting projects.
Future Plans: More Sewing and Knitting
I’ve got big plans for the next couple of months. In addition to finishing my current projects, I’m testing a tank top pattern for Samantha Guerin using Camellia Fiber Co. I’m also planning to sew more gingham pieces, including a skirt and top set from Blackbird Fabrics.
Farm Life Update
On the farm front, we recently caught a bee swarm on our peach tree. Despite losing one of our trees to bad weather last year, the bees love the remaining tree. We successfully set up the new swarm in a hive and hope it will thrive.
What I’m Reading and Listening To
I just finished reading “The Frozen River” and started “The Overnight Guest,” a mystery thriller that’s been a good distraction. I also got my hands on the vinyl version of Kacey Musgraves’ “Deeper Well,” which sounds amazing.
Exciting Yarn Acquisitions
I’m thrilled about some new yarn arrivals, including Cozy Posy Yarn Co.’s Exile from their Taylor Swift collection. It’s a gorgeous fingering weight yarn with a blend of Merino and linen. I also received their Lush Leno, a silk and linen blend, in a vibrant hot banana pepper color. I’m planning to use it for an outline tee, and I can’t wait to get started.
Thank you all for your support and for following along on my crafting journey. Your comments and encouragement mean the world to me.
