The Ruffle Edit Is Here and It’s Officially Ruffle Season!
Hello y’all! It’s officially ruffle season, and I have such a fun mix of things to share today, a brand new pattern release! Also, a few knitting works in progress, some sewing, and what I’ve been reading lately.
The Ruffle Edit is Here
The Ruffle Edit is officially live on Ravelry, and I could not be more excited to finally share it with you. (Read on for a coupon code!)
This design started as a simple idea for a lightweight shawlette that had just enough texture to keep things interesting, but still felt relaxing to knit. And of course, it needed a ruffle.
It begins with a garter tab cast-on, which I promise is not as intimidating as it sounds, and then settles into a really easy four-row repeat that you can easily memorize I think.
It’s the kind of project you can pick up while watching a show or traveling and not feel tied to constantly checking the pattern. The texture is not overpowering but beautiful, and the ruffle at the end just gives it that little bit of personality.
There are two sizes included in the pattern. The shawlette size is perfect for laying over your shoulders or wearing with the point in front, and the bandana size is a little smaller and especially nice for warmer weather when you don’t want a lot of fabric around your neck. You can also play with the ruffle size between the two, depending on whether you want something a little more understated or a full ruffle moment.
If you’d like to make one, you can use code RUFFLE for a 40% discount on the pattern. I knit my sample in Yarn Jam’s Shaniko Sport, which has the most beautiful stitch definition, soft, bouncy, and just really lovely next to the skin.
I’m also working on a full-size shawl version that I’ll be adding to the pattern later this year. If you purchase it now, you’ll automatically receive that update when it’s ready.
What I’m Knitting
I’ve been spending a lot of time working on the Fern Sweater for the Sew & Knit Along with The Farmer’s Daughter Fibers, and I am loving it. The fabric is so open and airy, which makes it perfect for layering through spring and summer. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fern-sweater-5.
It has this really beautiful lace structure that feels detailed without being overwhelming, and I can already tell it’s going to be one of those pieces I reach for all the time. I’m planning to wear it with some chocolate brown Protea pants that I’m sewing, and I love that combination already.
I also finished the back of a test knit I’m working on called A Memory of Lace by Jessie Mae. This one is worked flat, which I actually really enjoy when there are lace and cable elements involved.
It makes it easier to keep track of where you are, and I find it more relaxing to read my knitting that way. I chose to knit it with quite a bit of positive ease to get that relaxed, slightly oversized look, and I think it’s going to pair perfectly with linen pieces this summer for an easy but still put-together outfit.
And then, in a completely different direction, I cast on the Mary Maxim wolf sweater for my son after we finished reading Project Hail Mary together. He loved the book, and when we saw the sweater from the movie, that was it. He needed one.
This is definitely a more involved knit with a lot of intarsia and bobbins, but he is very knitworthy 🙂 so we’re doing it. I’m using Cascade Eco Wool and 220 Grande to get that classic, rustic feel, and I’m making it oversized so he can grow into it and hopefully wear it for years.
Sewing Corner
On the sewing side, I’ve been working on the Heatwaves dress using Matchy Matchy fabric, and it has been such a fun project. I’ve finished the bodice, which has a really pretty ruched front and shirring in the back, and now I just need to complete the skirt.
The fit is so comfortable, and I love the shape of it already. I think it’s going to pair perfectly with the Ruffle Edit, especially styled with sandals or even cowboy boots. We are still figuring out the bra situation, but that’s just part of the process.
What I’m Reading
I recently finished Project Hail Mary and really enjoyed it. It was such a fun mix of science and storytelling without ever feeling too heavy. After that, I picked up another Inspector Lynley mystery, which I’ve been slowly working my way through, and now I’ve just started a book called I’m not the only murderer in my retirement home.

The premise of the book alone made me laugh, a former serial killer in a retirement home trying to prove she didn’t commit the latest crime. I’ve only just started it, but I’ll definitely report back.
Wrapping up
This season feels full in the best way. There’s a little bit of everything, knitting, sewing, reading, and now a new pattern out in the world. The Ruffle Edit has been such a joy to create, and I really hope it becomes one of those projects you reach for when you want something easy, pretty, and just a little bit special.
If you cast one on, I would absolutely love to see it. And as always, I’d love to hear what you’re working on or reading lately. Until next time, happy knitting y’all 🤎
