Cozy Fall Knitting Plans and Patterns 2024!
Hey there, knitting friends! As we all know, when the school buses hit the road, it means one thing: it’s fall in our hearts, even if the weather doesn’t agree. Sure, it might still be a scorching 100 degrees outside, but we’re all about cozy season vibes here! Today, I’m diving into my fall knitwear plans, and I can’t wait to share what’s on my needles and in my stash for this delightful season.
Fall Knitting Vibes: Planning Ahead
Even though it’s technically not fall yet, I’m ready to switch gears from those lightweight summer projects to all things warm and woolly. This season, I’m looking forward to both new projects and finishing up some lingering ones that need a bit of love. Who else has a pile of UFOs (unfinished objects) just waiting to be tackled? You’re not alone!
Old Projects Begging for Attention
Okay! Let’s talk about those projects that have been patiently waiting for me to finish. One of the big ones on my list is the Book Club Cardigan by Sari Nordlund. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/book-club-cardigan
I was part of the test knit for this gorgeous piece but didn’t quite make it to the finish line.
The pattern features some beautiful cables, and I’ve been using Wool Dreamer Moda, a DK weight yarn that’s delightfully soft and plump. https://wooldreamersus.com/mota?srsltid=AfmBOorT9GxDCnrdbHGEKx5K4_lFUYuPte9YzTd2SEh7kCRvGBle-Cih
I’m excited to get this one finished—it’s perfect for layering over dresses or pairing with some fun linen pants.
New Projects on the Horizon
Of course, fall wouldn’t be complete without casting on some new projects. I’m particularly excited about a few cardigans. Yes, I know, more cardigans! But they are my favorite, and I find them so versatile. I’m in a little knitting group with some friends, and we’re all working on the Ginny Cardigan together. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ginny
For this, I’m using Spin Cycle’s Metamorphic yarn in a stunning green-grey color that matches my eyes. I’m also planning to make a matching dress with some beautiful linen fabric—how fun is that? https://linenlab.co.kr/YOUNGFOLKKNITS

Another new project I’m casting on for is the Paulie Cardigan, a mosaic-knit cardigan with a quilt star pattern. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/paulie-cardigan
I’ve always loved mosaic knitting because it creates such intricate designs with just one color per row. I’m going for a Scandinavian farmhouse vibe with neutral, earthy tones. I can’t wait to get started on this one for the YFK Mosaic Mayhem knitalong, starting September 1st.
Mixing It Up with Mosaic Knitting
Speaking of mosaic knitting, I’m also eyeing the Fog Line Shawl by Brian Moody. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fogline-shawl This pattern is a fantastic way to play with color, and I’m planning to use a mix of handspun yarns and some dreamy spin cycle yarns. The color transitions in this shawl are simply stunning, and I’m looking forward to getting creative with my yarn choices.
Dreaming of a Cozy Jacket
Lastly, I’m dreaming of knitting a jacket-style cardigan for those crisp fall days. I’ve narrowed it down to two options: the Esther Jacket or the Beatrix Cardigan by Gregoria Fibers. I’m leaning towards the Beatrix because of its delicious texture—it’s a mix of cables and seed stitch that looks both fun and challenging. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/beatrix-cardigan
I recently scored some gorgeous yarn from Camellia Fiber Company in the color “Garden Rose,” which will be perfect for this project. I might need to order a few more skeins, but I think the end result will be worth it.

Pretty sure you meant to link Andrea Mowry’s Ginny Cardigan, oops, wrong link! But I saw the podcast so I know which one you meant ❤️
Deb,
Thank you for catching that! I think I fixed the link now.
