Mosaic Knitting and Discounted Patterns!
Hello, fellow yarn enthusiasts! If you’re anything like me, you’re always on the lookout for the next knitting project that not only challenges your skills but also brings a sense of community and shared creativity. Well, I’ve got some exciting news to share with you today—a brand-new knitalong called Mosaic Mayhem! Whether you’re a seasoned knitter or just starting out, this knitalong is your perfect opportunity to dive into the world of mosaic knitting, connect with other knitters, and create something truly beautiful.
What is Mosaic Knitting?
If you’re not familiar with mosaic knitting, let me give you a quick rundown. Mosaic knitting is a fantastic technique that allows you to create intricate patterns and designs using two or more colors of yarn. But here’s the best part: unlike traditional stranded colorwork, where you’re juggling multiple yarns in a single row, mosaic knitting keeps things simple. You work with just one color at a time, slipping stitches as you go, to create those stunning, complex-looking designs. It’s an accessible way to add color and texture to your projects without the hassle of managing multiple yarns simultaneously.
The Inspiration Behind Mosaic Mayhem
The idea for the Mosaic Mayhem knitalong came to me when Amy Christoffers released her gorgeous Paulie Cardigan, which features a striking mosaic knitting motif. https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/paulie-cardigan.
This pattern got me thinking—why not bring together knitters from all over to explore mosaic knitting as a community? And so, Mosaic Mayhem was born!
How to Join the Knitalong
Joining Mosaic Mayhem is easy. Simply choose any mosaic knitting pattern—yes, any pattern, from any designer that includes some form of mosaic—and start knitting along with us.
The knitalong kicks off on September 1st, 2024, and runs through December 31st, 2024. Whether you finish a project or just get started, you’re welcome to participate.

Pattern and Yarn Inspiration
For my own project, I’ve decided to knit the Paulie Cardigan. I’m going for a Scandinavian-inspired look with yarn from North Bay Fiber Company—specifically, their Heritage DK in Sand Point and Chestnut.
These colors have a lovely contrast and a cozy, neutral vibe that I think will make for a perfect addition to my wardrobe. https://www.northbayfiber.com (https://www.northbayfiber.com) Jill from Northbay fiber has offered 10% off her lovely yarn using the code YOUNGFOLK
But the Paulie Cardigan isn’t the only mosaic pattern out there. If you’re looking for inspiration, here are a few more mosaic knitting patterns to consider:
- Pressed Flowers by Amy Christoffers: This popular pattern series includes a cardigan, pullover, shawl, and more. The floral motifs are just gorgeous! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pressed-flowers-cardigan-2
